How I Improved my online teaching as a teacher, by Eveslyn Lai.
As we known, the Coronavirus pandemic has forced thousand of students and teachers or educators to reevaluate how they will proceed their learning process through online. A lot of schools have choose completely online during this pandemic and now as the pandemic continues to keep businesses and schools closed, teachers are working to ensure their school year can be successful no matter how it looks. Actually with this online lessons, many teachers and one of them was myself, have extremely difficult tasks before them as they work to adjust their curriculum and lesson plans to fit their new normal. The most important thing for everyone who teaches is to find safe ways for students to continue getting the education that they deserve.
1. Utilize a variety of technology options.
But basically I have my own ways as teacher to improve my online teaching. The first thing I can do is utilize a variety of technology options. The students of today are well-versed in technology and need to be able to use it for their jobs in the future. It's was important to use technology as one of the learning process to help them better understand concepts, and prepare them for the requirements of technology in their futures. There are some other benefits that I can include when we use technology in our learning process. For example like, the students are more engaged in the lesson. Students are also able to have a good problem-solve thinking skills. In other than that, digital tools are actually create an interactive classroom.
Popular tools in this arena include SurveyMonkey, Google Classroom, AnswerGarden, Edulastic, and more are able to engage and communicate in a way that is different, fun, and simple for them. It can be great to ask a question to students and generate a discussion using an app such as Google Classroom. Students can also answer questions in a fun quiz-style fashion that helps teachers immediately see where students are with their comprehension.
Here are the link of the videos on how we can used the digital tools for our online teaching:

2. Always connect with my students personally and have a good connection with them.
Next, I also will always connect with my students personally and have a good connection with them. By using online platforms, we don't even know either our student learn somethings based on their learning or not. In traditional classroom settings where those teaching can see how students are doing daily, interact with them one-on-one if they have questions, and speak to them in private if needed. It's was totally different with online classes which we are don't even know either our student are enjoyed the class or not. Because of that, I had already plan my times for my student, like I create a virtual meet with them every 2-3 times for a month to check for them and make sure they are doing well with everything. These meetings can help teachers assess how students are doing academically with the online courses and lessons, as well as socially and mentally.
3. Prepared myself to work together with the parents.
In addition, I just need to prepared myself to work together with the parents. As we known, especially during lockdown, the person that always with the students are their parents. I has make sure that I have a good connection with their parents and take a look on their children either their children attend their online classes or not. Will the parent's help, so that I can make sure that my student will not going to missed their classes. Parents will also be needed to help answer questions and work on assignments for the online courses and lessons, so it’s vital for teachers to communicate regularly with them about what the expectations for their students are. Now more than ever, parents are playing an integral role in their child’s virtual education as it is happening at home, with them nearby. Instead of teacher’s being able to answer a question or help fix a problem, parents will be needed. Working with parents and talking to them often can help them feel successful as they help their learner navigate the school year.
4. Consider new learning methods
Lastly, I will consider new learning methods for my student for online studies purposes. There are a wide variety of learning styles that students have, and a wide variety of learning methods that teachers can utilize in the classroom to help their learners. I will create a quiz online game for my student every time I have finished my teaching. So that I can know if they are able to understand the topic or not. Other than that, during teaching, I will also attached some YouTube videos related to topic I have teach so that the online process will be more fun and interesting.
In conclusion these are the most ways on how I have improved my online teaching as a teacher during this pandemic. Actually there are many others way to improved it but I had included the common ways that I had included as my daily tips in my teaching.
